First Picture below-early style Deeley forearm loops. The lower gun is a 1906 C-grade with the very early style loop, while the upper gun is a 1912 BE-Grade with the "reinforced" loop. No drain holes. Savage era guns do not normally have drilled drain holes.

Second Picture below-later style loops with the drain holes. Top the later style Deeley loop. Middle the J.C. Kremer & A.H. Fox Patent No. 1,029,374 snap-on/off forearm loop. Bottom the F.T. Russell Patent No. 1,029,229 snap-on/off forearm loop. All with drain holes. Savage era guns do not normally have drilled drain holes.
