1910 A Grade Fox fully restored by Doug Turnbull

Postby 500straight » Sat Mar 06, 2010 3:28 am

I have owned this A. H. Fox, A Grade since high school. I got it from a family relative who taught me the love of bird and rabbit hunting. This restoration was a labor of love. Doug Turnbull's craftsmen did an exceptional job! It now has new English walnut wood, rust blued barrels, charcoal blued trigger guard, and new color case hardening on the receiver; just the way it left the Fox Factory on 2 August 1910. Oh yes, the only upgrade is the B grade checkering that I had added on the side of the stock by the receiver. I plan to shoot lots of vintage skeet and sporting clays with it. Oh, I forgot to mention I shot a nice grouse with it last fall in Northern New York State.

500, very nice work and it sure looks like she's ready for the field for another 100 years or so. Most all these early Foxes were hunted with hard, and helped feed families over decades. Thanks for sharing. Silvers

P.S. Just wondering if you care to answer, how did you get the black background on the pics?

Dang! That really is a beautiful restoration. It will be alot of fun to take that out to the clay ranges and get some hunting in. Very nice, Scott

Silvers,

Thanks for the kind note. These pictures were taken "professionally" at Doug Turnbull Restoration and they appear on his website. He has a photo studio in his shop. I do not know how they get the black background, but yes, it sure does look nice. I also hunted hard with this gun when I was younger. I shot waterfowl, grouse, rabbits, and I even shot a deer with it using slugs! I will not use slugs in it again.
